Kate Jacoby
Kate Jacoby was born in Australia but has lived all over the world.
She has worked a variety of jobs including in a Melbourne theatre, both backstage and as an actor, a caretaker in a remote Scottish castle,
a software trainer, a cook for cyclists and a brief stint as a voice-over for radio.
She lives in Melbourne, Australia.
K.W. Jeter
Born in Los Angeles, California, in 1950, K.W. Jeter holds a
degree in sociology and a Master's degree from the writing program
at San Francisco State University. He is the bestselling author
of many novels, including Dr. Adder, Wolf Flow,
The Edge of Human, and Replicant Night. He and his
wife make their home in Oregon.
Kij Johnson
Kij Johnson taught writing and science-fiction writing at Louisiana State University, and has lectured on creativity and writing at
bookstores and businesses across the country. She has been awarded the William Crawford Award for Achievement in Fantasy. Since 1994,
she has assisted at the Writer's Workshop for Science Fiction, hosted by the Center for the Study of Science Fiction at the University
of Kansas. In the past 10 years, she has worked as managing editor at Tor Books; collections and special editions editor
for Dark Horse Comics; editor, continuity manager and creative director for Wizards of the Coast; and most recently as a program
manager on the Microsoft Reader. She has also run chain and independent bookstores; worked as a radio announcer and engineer,
edited cryptic crosswords, and waitressed in a strip bar. She lives in Seattle.
Robert Jordan
Robert Jordan is the pseudonym of American writer James Oliver Rigney, Jr., who has also written as
Regan O'Neal, Jackson O'Reilly, and Chang Lung.
A lifelong resident of Charleston, SC, Robert Jordan was
born in 1948. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam
(from 1968-70), earning the Distinguished Flying Cross and the
Bronze star. Following that, he entered the Citadel, the
military college of South Carolina, where he received a
degree in physics and went on to be employed by the Navy
as a nuclear engineer. While hospitalized with an injury,
he thought he could probably write as well as the authors
he had been reading during his recovery. He has been
writing ever since.
J. V. Jones
J.V. Jones was born in Liverpool, England, in 1963. She currently
resides in San Diego, CA. She has
had tremendous success with her first fantasy trilogy, The Book of Words, which began with
The Baker's Boy and continued in A Man Betrayed and Master and Fool. Her
latest novel is set outside the world of her first trilogy: The Barbed Coil.
Stephen Jones
Stephen Jones is the winner of 2 World Fantasy Awards, the Horror Writers Association Bram Stoker Award and 2 International Horror
Guild Awards, as well as being an 11-time recipient of the British Fantasy Award and a Hugo Award nominee. A full-time columnist,
television producer/director and genre movie publicist and consultant, Stephen Jones is also one of Britain's most acclaimed
anthologists of horror and dark fantasy. He has edited and written more than 50 books,
including: Shadows Over Innsmouth; Exorcisms and Ecstasies, a Karl Edward Wagner collection;
and Clive Barker's A-Z of Horror. He is co-editor of a number of series including Best New Horror,
Dark Terrors and Dark Voices. He lives in London, England
Gwyneth Jones
Born in Manchester, Gwyneth Jones is a winner of both the World Fantasy Award
and the James Tiptree, Jr. Award. As well, she is a two-time nominee for the Arthur C. Clarke
Award. Her other books include Divine Endurance and Flowerdust. Before moving
back to England, she lived in Singapore, with her travels in Southern India and parts of Southeast
Asia providing her with inspiration for several of her books.
Graham Joyce
Graham Joyce was born in 1954 in Coventry, England.
He attended Bishop Lonsdale College (B.Ed. with honours), graduating
in 1977, and the University of Leicester for an M.A. in 1980.
He worked for the National Association of Youth Clubs in Leicester
as a youth officer until 1988. The same year, he
married Suzanne Johnson, a lawyer.
