New Eaton Volume: Update
The completed manuscript of essays from the 1999 Eaton Conference, entitled Science Fiction and the Two Cultures and co-edited by Gary Westfahl and George Slusser, has now been submitted to McFarland Publishers for anticipated publication in 2009, the fiftieth anniversary of the famed lecture by C. P. Snow that inspired this collection. While the volume's contents remain subject to change, the manuscript consisted of an introduction and nineteen essays, fifteen of them previously unpublished; contributors included two science fiction writers (Gregory Benford and Howard V. Hendrix), several noted science fiction scholars (Carl Freedman, Frank McConnell, John S. Partington, Stephen Potts, George Slusser, and Gary Westfahl), a historian, and a computer scientist. When the book's contents have been finalized, I will be posting the complete Table of Contents and more updates!
